Learning to Cooperate With Others

Learning to cooperate with others furnishes preschool children with a range of benefits, from higher self-esteem to increased emotional intelligence and an ability to empathize with others. When children are given the chance to work together towards a certain goal, they are also more motivated and interested in achieving objectives, helping them to learn and succeed. All of these benefits contribute directly to their long-term cognitive and emotional development.

Children are encouraged to work together in a variety of learning and play activities including class discussions, group presentations, dramatic play, outdoor exploration and play. They are given tasks to achieve and guided in the best ways to come together as groups. As they cooperate, they learn to listen to and respect the ideas of others while expressing their own, to solve problems logically, patiently and positively and begin to gain knowledge from watching and learning from one another.
