Personal Development

Socializing, connecting and communicating with others are all vital and rewarding parts of your child’s developmental preschool journey. Children are provided with many exciting opportunities to explore their budding social skills and make new friends. Within the framework of classroom discussions, group learning activities, dramatic play and independent play, children begin to practice valuable social behaviors and skills that will help them throughout their lives. They are encouraged to play in groups or pairs and learn to interact with others in a positive way. Children learn important socializing skills such as :

  • Introducing themselves
  • Greeting one another
  • Joining groups and inviting others to play
  • Expressing their ideas and preferences with confidence
  • Listening to the ideas and preferences of others
  • Sharing toys, tasks and space with others
  • Taking turns
  • Dealing with conflict appropriately

Positive social behavior is taught to children through reading, storytelling and behavior modelling and they are provided with many opportunities to try out and improve their own social skills. By practicing and expanding these skills, preschoolers enjoy the emotional and cognitive benefits of friendships, develop a solid sense of self-confidence and become secure in their roles as members of their classroom community.
