Kindergarten Readiness: Creating a Solid Foundation for Your Child’s Future Academic Success

Reading Readiness

Well-developed reading skills play an essential role in your child’s academic advancement. Our preschool curriculum fosters the development of strong reading and comprehension abilities in children, ensuring reading readiness through the learning of  :

Letter awareness : Children become familiar with the alphabet, including upper and lower case letters.

Phonological awareness : Children gain the ability to understand letter and word sounds, to blend sounds and to identify units of sound within words. They also become familiar with phonological concepts like rhyme and alliteration. Children learn to recognize and sound out their own names.

Print awareness : Children become able to recognize and understand sequence, reading order and the correspondence of print to speech.

Word comprehension : Children will begin to build a rich and varied vocabulary, ensuring that they understand and are comfortable using the new words that they come across in reading and storytelling activities. Vocabulary building will help them with both reading readiness and idea expression.

Children also have a variety of stories read aloud to them and engage in entertaining, play-led learning activities such as word and rhyming games, helping to cultivate an early love of words and reading.
